A poem to mark the turning of the seasons, and the ever-present threat of flooding, here in Cockermouth. Major flood events occurred here in 2009 and 2015, which shut the whole town down for weeks until homes and shops could be dried out and refurbished. Many people lost all their life savings in repairing their properties, and one unlucky soul, a policeman, sadly drowned and lost his life. RIP, PC Bill Barker.
