The guitar instrumental was inspired by our visit to Dubrovnik, Croatia, in 2008. A beautiful place indeed. We walked around the walls of the old city, peering over rooves, backyards, staircases, and mingling with the countless stray cats.

The vocal, added much later than the guitar part, is just a recognition of how far we have come as a couple since those early days. OK, life may be a lot more boring and predictable these days. But we have found our own space, our own niche in the environment, our own metiers.

Thanks to R.E.M. for the line about re-creation (from "So Fast, So Numb"). And to my wife, Rachel Thomas, for the praise at the end.
